On June 23, 2024, Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu greeted supporters and gave a speech in Kaohsiung about the third wave of parliamentary reform. Chu criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for accusing both the blue and white parties of collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party. Meanwhile, DPP Legislator and convener Ke Chien-ming criticized the blue and white parties for their actions, calling for President Lai not to have authority without responsibility. The DPP recently pushed for parliamentary reform legislation, with DPP legislator Lo Chih-chiang requesting the Council of Grand Justices not to become the DPP's watchdog. Ke Chien-ming condemned the blue and white parties for challenging the constitution and the Grand Justices, accusing them of aligning with the Chinese contingent. In response, People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je criticized President Lai for establishing three committees at the Presidential Palace, calling it an expansion of power and creating dissent.
