Control Yuan Secretary-General Li Chunyi expressed on June 25th that the amendments to parliamentary powers severely hinder the exercise of investigative powers, violating the principle of separation of powers as per the constitution. The Legislative Yuan rejected the bills proposed by the Executive Yuan last Friday, leading President Lai Ching-te to announce a request for constitutional interpretation and temporary dispositions. Control Yuan plans to file for constitutional interpretation and temporary dispositions to uphold investigative rights stipulated by the constitution and to prevent the infringement of constitutional principles. Li Chunyi highlighted three main points, emphasizing the importance of respecting the constitutional framework and the balance of powers before any constitutional amendments are made.
