Traveling American player Chang Yu-Cheng submitted his registration form through his agency to participate in the 2024 CPBL draft. The Fubon Guardians expressed delight at his positive response after a long period of contact and care, welcoming him to register for the annual draft. The team will discuss signing details with Chang and his agency and looks forward to having him wear the Fubon Guardians uniform in the second half of the season, aiming to attract more attention to the CPBL and support Taiwanese baseball. Chang, 28, born in Taitung County, joined the MLB's Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians) after high school and became the 16th Taiwanese player to reach the MLB in 2019. With 5 years in the MLB, 235 games played, 121 hits, 20 home runs, 79 RBIs, Chang holds significant records among Taiwanese players in the MLB. His impressive performance in international competitions, including winning the 21st Asian Baseball Championship with his brother and excelling in the WBC World Baseball Classic, has deeply impressed Taiwanese fans.
