Encouraging vocational school students to combine their studies with industry practices and leverage the characteristics of technical and vocational education, the Ministry of Education held the National Technical and Vocational Schools' Practical Project Competition and Exhibition in 2024, with 1,283 entries from 50 schools. Among them, a team of 5 students from the Department of Leisure Business Management at Chaoyang University of Technology won first place in the Home Economics, Catering, and Food Group with their project 'Mountain City Carbon Zero - Innovative Research and Development of Citrus Friendly Food.' They developed 9 citrus-friendly products using local specialty Maogu oranges and fruit peels, promoting environmental friendliness, sustainable rural areas, and meeting ESG development goals. The team's advisor mentioned the impact of climate change on Maogu orange production and quality, highlighting the team's efforts in creating high-value processed products from surplus fruit to increase local characteristics, reduce agricultural waste, and improve rural development.
