Former chairperson of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Cheng Wen-tsang, was interrogated and detained by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office for suspected corruption. The Taoyuan District Court ruled that although there were serious allegations of bribery and leaking of secrets, there was no need for detention, granting bail of 5 million NT dollars. The High Court overturned this decision, citing lack of explanation for the detention reasons and the potential for collusion among suspects and witnesses. The case has been remanded for further review by the Taoyuan District Court.
