Cheaper Electricity More Wasteful? Minister suggests 'Not Every Room Needs Air Conditioning', Blue Camp Legislator Asks: 'How Many Does Your Home Have?'

Reported 8 months ago

The topic of electricity supply has drawn public attention, especially with rising electricity prices making life more difficult for people. Minister of Economic Affairs, Guo Zhihui, mentioned that 'cheaper electricity doesn't mean it's better, as when electricity is too cheap, people tend to waste it'. He gave an example of not needing to install four air conditioners in a space with three rooms and a kitchen when two would suffice. In response, Nationalist Party legislator Yang Qiongying questioned Guo's own air conditioner usage and criticized using domestic air conditioning as an example, stating it's a reflection of the government losing its perspective and treating people as money-making tools.
