Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange platform JPEX is accused of operating without a license and engaging in suspected fraud and fundraising activities in Taiwan. Singer Chen Ling Jiu accepted 320,000 Tether coins (approximately 10 million New Taiwan Dollars) from a Hong Kong businessman to become the Taiwan spokesperson, resulting in accusations of fraud against him. Chen, along with four other individuals, including social media influencer Tony Zhang and others, have been sent to Taipei prosecutors for investigation on charges of aggravated fraud and violation of banking laws. The case involves numerous victims who were allegedly lured into investing, prompting regulatory authorities to refer the case to law enforcement for further investigation.
