After failing to secure a pardon on June 21, 2024, former President Chen Shui-bian made his first public statement. The case involved Chen's wife, Wu Shu-jen, allegedly receiving 10 million NT dollars from Chen Min-hsuan to help her secure the position of chairman of Taipei Financial Building (101). Taipei District Prosecutors indicted Chen Shui-bian in 2015 for aiding in concealing criminal proceeds under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. However, the Taipei District Court ruled in favor of Chen due to the statute of limitations, prompting prosecutors to appeal, citing procedural errors in the judgment.
