Former President Chen Shui-bian, who was imprisoned for corruption and later released on medical parole due to health issues, still has 4 unresolved cases after 9 years. In one of these cases, the money laundering charge in the bribery case involving former Taipei 101 Chairman Chen Min-hsun has reached the statute of limitations. The Taipei District Court ruled on May 20th to dismiss the charges against Chen Shui-bian. Chen Min-hsun was accused of purchasing a specific position through illicit means, and the money laundering investigation started in 2011 but was discontinued due to the statute of limitations. While this case has been dismissed, Chen still faces three other ongoing cases related to embezzlement of presidential documents, involvement in the Cathay United Bank and Mega Financial Holding Co. merger, and abetting perjury.
