Cheng Wen-tsang Denies Wrongdoing! Involved in Bribery and Leaking of Secrets, 5 Million Bail Revealed

Reported about 1 year ago

Cheng Wen-tsang, former Mayor of Taoyuan and current chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, was suspected of corruption and was brought to court by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office for violating the Anti-Corruption Act. After a two-hour hearing, the court ruled that Cheng could be released on bail of 5 million NT dollars, with restrictions on residence, travel, contact with co-defendants, criminal suspects, witnesses, and others. Despite denying the charges, evidence presented in the application supported significant criminal suspicion regarding bribery and leaking of secrets, leading to the decision for bail.
