According to CTWANT Weekly, Cheng Wen-tsang, former Mayor of Taoyuan and current Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, was revealed to be involved in corruption and bribery related to a specific area project in Linkou. Taoyuan District Court ruled for Cheng to be released on bail for 5 million NTD and restricted his residence and travel. It was reported that Cheng allegedly received bribes in connection with the expansion project of an industrial zone, involving land acquisition and urban planning. The 'white gloves' involved have been detained, while two individuals, a certain Yang and another surnamed Liao, are suspected of giving a hefty sum to Cheng through bribery.
