Cheng Wen-tsang's Bribery Case Bail Increased to 12 Million New Taiwan Dollars, Taoyuan Prosecutor's Office Files Appeal in Court

Reported about 1 year ago

Former Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsang, involved in the Linkou Gongwu Expanding Land Case, initially posted bail of 5 million NTD, which was appealed by the prosecution. The High Court sent the case back to the Taoyuan District Court, which today held a second bail hearing for Cheng Wen-tsang. After 4 hours, the judge ruled for bail to be raised to 12 million NTD, with restrictions on residence, travel, and sea travel. The prosecution immediately appealed in court due to disagreement with the decision. Cheng Wen-tsang arrived at court looking serious and devoid of any smiles, complying with the new bail conditions and paying the additional 700,000 NTD required within half an hour.
