On July 8, 2024, at 5:52 am, Cheng Wen-tsang was involved in corruption but was granted bail with NT$5 million. The prosecution appealed the same day, and the Taiwan High Court ruled in the afternoon to revoke the original decision and send it back to the Taoyuan District Court for retrial. Former Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsang was embroiled in a corruption scandal, detained and forbidden from meeting on the 5th by the Taoyuan Prosecutors' Office, with the Taoyuan District Court granting bail of NT$5 million on the 6th. The High Court believed there were several improper aspects in the original bail decision, thus revoking it and sending it back for a more appropriate ruling. The Taoyuan District Court stated that they would immediately assign a judge to handle the case and decide on the trial date upon receiving the High Court's ruling and case files tonight.
