Chief of Staff Appears in Parliament for Inquiry, Gu LiXiong Questioned

Reported about 1 year ago

Taiwan's Chief of Staff Mei Jiashu is scheduled to report on the implementation of the Han Kuang military exercises to the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan today and face questioning. Former Chief of Staff Li Ximing and former Legislator and Control Yuan Member Huang Huangxiong are skeptical about the significance, believing that the Defense Ministry's authority now lies with the Minister rather than the Chief of Staff, making parliamentary inquiry unnecessary and potentially disruptive. Defense Minister Gu Lixiong stressed that the Chief of Staff's presence in parliament for questioning should not affect leadership control and should not become a regular occurrence.
