Chief of the General Staff, Mai Jiashu, will go to the Legislative Yuan to give a special report and be questioned after 26 years. Former Chief of the General Staff, Li Ximin, and former supervisor, President of the Taipei Political and Economic Academy Foundation Huang Huangxiong, expressed their opposition to the Chief of the General Staff making reports and being questioned, believing it would affect the authority of military command during operations. They stated it is not beneficial for the Chief of the General Staff to go to the Legislative Yuan, as the Minister of National Defense should handle it. The Legislative Yuan's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee will invite the Minister of National Defense to lead Mai Jiashu in reporting on the 'Hanguang 40 Exercise' planning. Li Ximin pointed out that with the National Defense Act in effect, the military command has been centralized under the Minister of National Defense, and there is no need for the Chief of the General Staff.
