On June 21, 2024, during a community event in Keelung's Xinfengfu District organized by the Community Watch Team, the Keelung City Police Traffic Police actively promoted child car safety concepts. According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the mortality rate for children not using safety seats is 8 times higher than for those using them. A survey by the National Health Administration showed that nearly 20% of parents have never placed their children in safety seats. Using safety seats during car rides can reduce neck impact by 73%, decrease the mortality rate by 71%, and increase safety by 75% for rear-facing seats. Keelung City Traffic Police advise following four key safety seat guidelines: rear seat installation, using rear-facing safety seats, proper installation following manufacturer's instructions, ensuring stability, and securing the child with a snug seatbelt and leaving a one-finger gap. They urge parents of children under four years old and weighing under 18 kg to prepare age-appropriate car safety seats complying with national standards for every car ride, ensuring a safe journey for all children.
