Chile's consumer prices recorded their first monthly decrease since June, dropping 0.2% in December, despite annual inflation rising to 4.5%. The central bank remains cautious of inflationary pressures, such as increasing electricity tariffs and a weakening currency, prompting them to maintain borrowing costs at 5%. Economists expect consumer prices to rise again by 0.8% in January, while anticipating an eventual stabilization around the 3% inflation target in the coming year.
