China and EU to Discuss Tariffs on Electric Cars

Reported 8 months ago

On June 22, China's Ministry of Commerce announced that China and the EU have reached a consensus to hold talks on the EU's plan to significantly increase tariffs on Chinese electric cars. The EU recently announced imposing tariffs up to 48% on imported electric cars from China, leading to heightened trade tensions. Germany's Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs Habeck also highlighted concerns over China's support for Russia in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, affecting Germany and Europe's security interests, as a major cause of deteriorating economic relations between Germany and China during his visit to China.
