China's State Administration for Market Regulation has conditionally approved Synopsys' $35 billion acquisition of Ansys, removing the final regulatory hurdle for the merger. The companies must fulfill commitments to supply EDA products to Chinese customers on fair terms and maintain existing contracts. This approval follows intense scrutiny and comes after the U.S. lifted export restrictions on EDA tools to China, allowing Synopsys to enhance its competitiveness against rivals like Cadence.
