The Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan reacted to China's announcement of terminating the preferential tariff treatments for 134 Taiwanese products under the ECFA agreement, affecting industries like petrochemicals, textiles, machinery, steel, metal, and transportation. Concerns over upcoming carbon fees, electricity prices, and financing for small and medium-sized enterprises were discussed during industry dialogues with the government. Businesses urged the government to boost international competitiveness by accelerating FTA agreements and improving the domestic business environment. The Ministry of Economic Affairs pledged support in enhancing operational conditions, expanding markets, promoting exports, and facilitating industry upgrades towards higher value-added and differentiation, while actively addressing issues like carbon fees, electricity prices, and SME financing.
