Media reports revealed that on June 17th, the China Coast Guard collided with a Philippine ship near Ren'ai Ansha in the South China Sea, resulting in a Philippine navy soldier having their thumb amputated and intentionally puncturing the Philippines' firearms while seizing their weapons. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan urged both parties to peacefully resolve disputes, refrain from using force to avoid escalating regional tensions, and emphasized the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the South China Sea to uphold international maritime law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea-based global maritime order.
