On July 3, 2024, China's coast guard announced that they had detained a Taiwanese fishing boat suspected of illegal fishing near Quanzhou, with the vessel being brought in for inspection and seizure. The Chinese coast guard stated that the boat violated fishing regulations during the closed season, engaged in illegal trawling in restricted fishing areas, and used nets smaller than the national minimum size, causing damage to marine resources and the ecological environment. While the crew of the boat 'Da Jin Man 88' has not yet been released, the Taiwan-related vessels attempting to interfere with enforcement were warned and driven away by the Fujian coast guard.
