China has halted beef exports from a JBS SA plant in the US due to the presence of a controversial feed additive, ractopamine, in meat shipments. The additive, used to enhance muscle growth in livestock, is banned in several countries despite being considered safe by US authorities. JBS is working with authorities to resolve the issue, with the affected plant in Greeley, Colorado. This action comes as beef producers face rising costs and reduced profits due to scarce cattle supplies.
