China imposes harshest penalty on Taiwan independence; Hsiao Hsu-tsan urges Lai Ching-te to return to One-China Constitution

Reported 8 months ago

Hsiao Hsu-tsan, Executive Director of Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, called on President Lai Ching-te to change the 'new two-state theory' of Taiwan independence, emphasizing peace between both sides and the safety of Taiwanese people by returning to the 'One-China Principle' of the constitution and rebuilding mutual trust across the strait. China released a document on punishing Taiwan independence elements, with the highest penalty being death penalty for 'secessionist' actions. Hsiao urged the use of legal, not military means, emphasizing the importance of peace. He criticized Lai’s pro-independence stance, stating it is escalating tension and not conducive to solving cross-strait issues.
