China Imposes Sanctions on Lockheed Martin and Its Top Executives in Response to US Arms Sales to Taiwan

Reported 10 months ago

On June 21, 2024, China’s Foreign Ministry announced sanctions on multiple business units of Lockheed Martin and three high-ranking executives for signing arms agreements with Taiwan, accusing the collaboration of violating China's sovereignty. The sanctions target Lockheed Martin Missile System Integration Lab, Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories, and Lockheed Martin Ventures. China will freeze assets of the sanctioned executives and ban them from entering China. This move comes in response to the US approving a $300 million arms sale to Taiwan, including F-16 aircraft spare parts and related equipment. China's retaliatory actions reflect escalating tensions over US arms sales to Taiwan, with China targeting American defense companies as a response.
