China Issues 'Death Penalty' for Disciplining Taiwanese Independence Advocates, People First Party: Mainland Should Not Use This for Intimidation or Threats

Reported 8 months ago

On June 22, 2024, People First Party spokesperson Wu Yixuan responded to China's announcement of disciplining Taiwanese independence advocates, with the possibility of being sentenced to death for inciting separatist crimes. Wu stated that the 23 million citizens of the Republic of China have rights and obligations under the constitution, and democracy and freedom are not achieved overnight. She emphasized that the mainland should not use this as a means of intimidation or threats, as it would only worsen cross-strait tensions and hinder goodwill exchanges.
