A state-sponsored hacking group from China reportedly breached Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) in June as part of a larger global effort targeting telecoms and critical infrastructure, according to Bloomberg News. The group, identified as Volt Typhoon, was believed to have tested its capabilities for future cyberattacks on U.S. telecoms. SingTel officials stated that while malware was detected, there was no data theft or service disruption. China’s embassy in Washington denied involvement, highlighting opposition to cyberattacks.
