China Mobile, the largest wireless carrier by subscribers, is negotiating a potential acquisition of Hong Kong's broadband provider HKBN Ltd. The company's board has received a non-binding cash takeover proposal from China Mobile's division in Hong Kong. Although due diligence has been conducted and discussions on pricing are ongoing, there is no certainty of an agreement due to the interest from other private equity firms, which could complicate the deal.
