The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) expressed regret over the release of China's 'Opinions on Penalizing Taiwan Independence Separatists,' emphasizing that Beijing has no judicial jurisdiction over Taiwan and that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) laws have no binding force on Taiwanese people. The MAC called on Taiwanese to 'remain calm' and not succumb to CCP threats or intimidation, asserting that Taiwan's 23 million citizens have inherent freedoms and rights under the Constitution of the Republic of China. The government reaffirmed its defense of Taiwanese freedoms and rights against CCP threats and urged caution in traveling to mainland China.
