China has responded to Taiwan's travel advisory by stating that the majority of Taiwanese compatriots can travel to and from the mainland safely and condemning Taiwan for using political means to intimidate its people. Following China's recent threat to impose severe penalties on 'stubborn' Taiwan independence advocates, Taiwan raised its travel advisory level for China and advised against unnecessary travel there. The Chinese government views Taiwan as part of its territory and assured that the new law is only targeting a small number of separatists and their actions.
