According to Wedbush Securities SVP of equity research, Matt Bryson, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite is experiencing a decline as semiconductor stocks are affected by potential US plans to impose stricter restrictions on AI chip exports to China. Former President Trump also mentioned the possibility of Taiwan paying for US defense. Bryson believes that while US restrictions could impact companies like ASML and Tokyo Electron, it will have minimal effect on Nvidia, as China is a small part of their revenue and there are significant restrictions in place already. Moving away from Taiwan Semi in the near future is seen as unlikely with no real alternative available.
