China's factory activity contracted in May, though at a slower pace than in April, as the purchasing managers index improved slightly from 49.0 to 49.5. Despite ongoing uncertainties due to tariffs and trade tensions with the U.S., some companies reported a resumption of foreign trade orders following a temporary agreement that reduced tariffs. However, challenges remain as major tariffs are still in place, and concerns persist over the stability of the trade truce.
