China's National Security Regulation Allows Inspection of Travelers' Phones with 'Three Specifics'

Reported 12 months ago

Yahoo News (instant news) reports that China's mainland national security regulation came into effect today with concerns from the public about phone inspections upon entering the mainland. China's State Security Ministry mentioned that under the 'three specific' criteria regarding inspection requirements, targets, and procedures, personal phones and electronic devices can only be inspected. The Mainland Affairs Council previously warned people to evaluate the necessity of traveling to the mainland, emphasizing the risks posed by the mainland's national security red lines. The regulation gives the national security agency the right to inspect personal and organizational mobile devices, subjecting individuals and groups related to espionage activities, with clear inspection premises, specific targets, and well-defined procedures.
