China's New Rule to Punish Taiwan Independence with 'Most Severe Death Penalty', Ko Wen-je Laments 'Unreliable Allies': Leading Taiwan Further Away from China and Closer to the United States

Reported 8 months ago

In response to China's new regulations punishing Taiwan independence advocates with the most severe penalty of death, People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je expressed his disappointment at the Communist Party, calling them unreliable allies. The regulations, released by China's Taiwan Affairs Office, include 22 provisions for punishing those advocating for Taiwan independence, with the highest penalty being death. These measures have led individuals like entrepreneur Cao Xingcheng to caution that the days of appeasing both pro-China and pro-US sentiments in Taiwan are over.
