In a recent event held by the Asia-Pacific Elite Exchange Association discussing China's '22 Measures for Punishing Taiwanese Independence,' scholars pointed out that the unilateral expansion of jurisdiction by China violates international law and human rights, with unclear regulations possibly leading to even foreign politicians interacting with Taiwan unintentionally 'breaking the law.' They highlighted concerns about the broad and vague definitions, potentially increasing risks for Taiwan in international relations and travels to countries with judicial cooperation agreements with China. International legal experts emphasized that China's use of law for political suppression and criminalization of political activities contradicts international human rights laws, warning that many Taiwanese politicians could be targeted under these measures.
