China's Surge in EV Purchases Amid EU Tariffs

Reported about 11 hours ago

In February, China continued to lead global electric vehicle (EV) purchases, experiencing a 49% increase from the previous year, despite the European Union's tariffs on China-made vehicles affecting some brands like MG and Honda. The research firm Rho Motion noted a 3% decline in February sales compared to January, attributing a significant year-on-year rise partly to the timing of the Chinese New Year. While overall sales in Europe rose by 19%, BYD saw market share growth despite tariffs, and North America experienced a 17% increase in EV sales.
