China's July exports increased by only 7% year-on-year, lower than expected and the slowest growth in three months, raising concerns about the manufacturing sector's outlook. In contrast, imports rose robustly by 7.2%, driven by firms stocking up on chips ahead of anticipated US restrictions. Analysts predict both imports and exports will face pressure in the second half of 2024 due to external demand weakening and persistent tariffs from Western countries.
