China Successfully Tests Reusable Rocket, Garnering Praise and Comparisons to Musk's Achievements from 10 Years Ago

Reported 8 months ago

China Aerospace claimed the successful test of a reusable rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, using a 70-ton 'deep-variable-thrust liquid oxygen methane engine'. This test, reaching 10km with a 6-minute flight and a stable landing, propelled Chinese netizens to express national pride and comparisons to Musk's past accomplishments. Yet, some remarked on the gap between China and Musk in reusable rocket technology. Critics noted that China's recent test only matched SpaceX's technological level from 2014-2015. Other countries' advancements in reusable launch systems were also mentioned, with India's successful tests of RLV-TD as an example.
