China, the largest energy importer globally, has imposed new tariffs on U.S. energy imports, including crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and coal, in response to U.S. tariffs from the Trump administration. The tariffs, set at 15% for coal and LNG and 10% for crude oil, will take effect on February 10. While U.S. crude oil imports have already seen a significant decline, LNG imports are still growing. Analysts suggest that the impact of these tariffs may drive U.S. LNG exports to Europe, as Chinese buyers seek alternative sources amidst a tight market.
