China to Cut Renewable Energy Subsidies After Installation Surge

Reported 1 day ago

China's top economic planning agency announced plans to reduce subsidies for renewable energy projects following a significant increase in solar and wind power installations. In 2024, solar capacity grew by 45%, achieving the country's 2030 target six years early. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will implement market-based pricing for new projects starting June, which may pressure solar companies amid falling panel prices. However, the NDRC assures residential and agricultural users will not see price increases.
