On June 17, 2024, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced that Australia will be unilaterally waived visas. Within half an hour of the announcement, the search for China-related keywords by Australian visitors on the international platform 'Trip.com,' operated by Ctrip, increased by over 80% compared to the previous day. Flights between Australia and China have increased significantly, with Australia ranking fifth in terms of Chinese inbound tourism this year and flight numbers increasing over 220%. The move is expected to enhance tourism exchanges and economic interactions between China and Australia, benefiting over a million Chinese expatriates living in Australia by making their trips back to China simpler and more convenient.
