During a speech in Paris, Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Shaye referred to Taiwan as a 'rebel regime' based on the 'civil war view' of the Kuomintang and Communist Party of China, stating that Beijing has the right to expel the 'Taiwan rebel regime' at any time. In response, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu criticized Lu Shaye's remarks as contrary to facts, proof that PRC diplomats are 'illiterate and unhygienic,' and beneficial only as a source of amusement. Wang Ting-yu highlighted Taiwan's international significance and contributions in areas such as the semiconductor supply chain, democratic values, and strategic location in the first island chain, emphasizing that Taiwan has never belonged to the PRC. Lu Shaye's provocative comments were condemned by Wang Ting-yu and even led the French National Assembly to denounce China. Wang underscored the importance of abiding by international norms and achieving regional peace through diplomacy instead of belligerence.
