Chinese director Liu Yulin, daughter of writer Liu Zhenyun, graduated from New York University's film school and recently attended the Cross-Strait Film Festival in Taiwan with her film 'An Ordinary Male Lead.' She credits Taiwan director Lee Ang as her mentor, recalling his advice to always aim for the target in filmmaking. Liu Yulin sought Lee's guidance during tough times, with him encouraging her to face difficulties head-on, as he himself continues to do. She also praises the senior actors in her film and expresses her love for Taiwanese cuisine, particularly taro treats, intending to bring some back to China. Liu Yulin, despite being suggested to act, states her focus is solely on directing.
