The tension between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea continues as China's coast guard deployed a 10,000-ton ship near Thitu Island following an incident involving a stranded Philippine naval vessel in Ayungin Shoal. The Chinese coast guard ship, referred to as '5901,' approached within 700 meters of Philippine ships, causing heightened vigilance. Despite recent diplomatic talks and efforts from the Philippines to ease the situation by withdrawing U.S. missile systems, China's display of the largest coast guard ship shows the ongoing tension in the region. Japan also joined forces with the Philippines to counter China, signing a mutual access agreement RAA for joint military exercises and disaster response training, signaling opposition to China's expansion in the East and South China Seas.
