The Taiwanese fishing boat 'Da Jin Man 88' was detained by Chinese coast guard for fishing across borders in Fujian Wutou Port. Despite Taiwan's coast guard dispatching 3 boats for rescue, the outnumbered Chinese coast guard did not release the boat. Legislator Yang Yao criticized the government for disregarding fishermen's safety and called for attention to fishing operation areas. Conflicting claims between the Coast Guard and Fisheries Agency on border crossings have led to the incident. Yang also condemned the government for neglecting fishermen's safety and emphasized the need for clarity in shared fishing areas between Taiwan and China to prevent similar threats to local residents.
