A fishing vessel from Penghu, Taiwan, was approached by two Chinese coast guard ships in waters off Kinmen Island. The Chinese ships took photos, boarded the fishing vessel, and attempted to take it back to China. Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration responded by sending patrol boats to intercept the Chinese ships. Despite broadcasting messages to release the Taiwanese vessel, the Chinese coast guard ships did not comply. The fishing vessel was eventually taken to Wutou Port in China. Taiwan urges China not to escalate the situation and release the people and vessel involved as soon as possible.
