Chinese Consumers Face Rising Prices for Basic Necessities Amid Maotai Price Cuts and Closure of High-End Restaurants

Reported 8 months ago

A recent report reveals that in China, while high-priced items like houses, cars, and Maotai liquor continue to drop in price, even essential goods like instant noodles, pickled vegetables, and soft drinks, known as the 'poor man's trio,' have seen significant price increases. The cost of beef has also plummeted, marking a new low since last year. With the closure of multiple high-end restaurants in China, lower-priced Western-style eateries like Salyia from Japan are thriving. The 'poor man's trio' has recently experienced price hikes, with popular noodle brands like Master Kong and Uni-President raising prices. Coca-Cola and PepsiCo also announced price increases on their beverages.
