In a recent online post in China, a couple offered to 'send' their newborn child to anyone willing to pay the hospital delivery fees plus an additional 58,000 RMB (approximately 260,000 TWD). While the couple had decided to sell the unborn child, they insisted on finding a family genuinely interested in caring for the child. After a two-hour intervention by journalists and volunteers, the father eventually acknowledged the wrongdoing and promised not to 'send' the child to anyone. This incident raised concerns over illegal trafficking of children, as similar cases in China involving parents selling their unborn children have been reported.
