Reported 8 months ago

On June 22, 2024, at 4:31 am, Penghu fishermen spotted the Chinese Type 052C missile destroyer known as 'Chinese Aegis', with the hull number 153 named Xi'an, near the Taiwan Strait's median line. This comes after the recent sighting of a Chinese 094 nuclear submarine in the strait. The fishermen observed the destroyer's intimidating presence while operating in their traditional fishing grounds on June 20. The Xi'an missile destroyer, with a displacement of 7,000 tons, is equipped with phased array radar and vertical launch systems, earning it the nickname 'Chinese Aegis'. These destroyers are capable of engaging surface ships and submarines independently or in coordination with other naval forces, providing regional air defense capabilities.
