On June 10, 2024, four American citizens, who are confirmed as teachers at Cornell College, were stabbed in Beishan Park in Jilin City, Jilin Province, China. The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident, claiming it to be a 'sporadic event' and stating that the police are investigating further. Despite widespread sharing of related videos, Chinese state media has not reported on the incident, and the photos and videos have been censored on Weibo. A circulated notice on Weibo regarding a man named Cui as a major suspect in the case was also blocked. The victims are teachers from Cornell College working in China as part of a collaboration with Beihua University since 2018.
